Procedures in Spain.
Under the European Cross Border Health Directive, every patient waiting for a medical procedure in Ireland is entitled to receive that procedure in Spain.
HSE rules for getting your procedure in Spain may seem overwhelming, which is why we are here to help you through the red tape.
Patients who travel to Spain for procedures are entitled to have the entire cost of the procedure reimbursed by the HSE.
Once we know the procedure you need, we will the hospital in Barcelona and get a quote.
We will send a copy of your GP’s letter of referral to the HSE for approval.
Once the HSE approves your treatment, we can suggest to you, in the event you need it, where to get financing for your treatment.
Over the years we have built up a good relationship with the Irish League of Credit Unions, who understand the Cross Border Health Care Directive, the HSE payment methods and short term medical financing.
If you are not already a member we are happy to introduce you to your local Credit Union.
The European Cross Border Health directive is very clear.
Patients must pay for the procedure directly to the hospital where the procedure is undertaken.
The HSE must reimburse the patient the entire cost of the treatment on their return from Spain.
CBIH charges an administration fee of €179 prior to the start of process.
How are we funded?
We are paid an introduction fee from the hospitals in Barcelona for each patient we introduce.
